I'll bite on that one;

This is like a car accident or a wreck in a NASCAR race; you can’t help but gawk at it. In my view this couldn’t happen to 2 nicer guys. First of all, our fine Governor has contorted himself around so many different positions in the last 4 years; he resembles something more like a rubber band. (Only Bill Clinton has the finesse to pull that kind of stuff off, and the Gov is no slick Willie) I have to admit that I was impressed with the Gov early on; he put his heart and soul into the passage of Amendment 1, which lowered our property taxes (thank god, its helped me to be able to stay in my house while I’ve been unemployed). This wasn’t easy as every municipal special interest from City governments to Teacher unions were opposed to this and used our tax money to advertise against it. Not to mention that this was the first ballot amendment in Florida to require a 60% threshold to pass. (Oddly he almost never mentions this acomplishment in his appearances or political adds) I didn’t mind that he welcomed Prez Obama to Florida early on and put his arm around him, I didn’t mind when he took Fed stimulus money (there was a several billion dollar state budget shortfall at the time, I don’t expect a Governor of any stripe to turn down free money in that situation) He signaled to the legislature that he would accept EB from the Feds and signed it. Then he seemed to fall off the cliff. The list is endless, mandatory ethanol in gasoline, California type emissions standards, first he is against off-shore drilling, then he is for it, then he is against it again. He had a lead in the Repub primary race, said he would drop out if he lost, blew the lead then reneged on his promise and ran as an independent. He has denounced almost everything he ran on 2006. Therefore I have concluded that this guy doesn’t believe in anything (except seeking office). He is a huge disappointment.
At least for him he has a legacy of property tax reduction; otherwise I look forward to him fading away.

Poor Mr. Meek on the other hand is simply warmed over Congressional incompetence from the last 4 years. More spending , more taxes and more government programs.

I hope these 2 guys continue to slug it out (no ideology vs. failed ideology); my money is on Mr. Rubio

Sentinel Endorses Rubio

Post  sc4ram on Sun Oct 17, 2010 1:06 am

Wow- I pick up my paper today to find the same publication that endorsed John Kerry and Barack Obama endorsed Marco Rubio for Senate. Given they are no bastion of conservativism, I have to conclude they really dont like the other guys........

Kendrick Meek won't quit Senate race 'for any reason'

Post  sc4ram on Mon Oct 18, 2010 1:37 am

Sorry Gonzo for dominating your thread, I saw on the news tonite that Bill Clinton is going to come into Fla and campaign for Congressman Meek. Id be careful as to what precincts id offer the suggestion that Mr. Meek step down . (From this article it appears that he is not open to that suggestion). However the Dems have a history of dumping these guys (offering them a ambassadorship or other govt position to step down). They got the word to Gov Patterson of NY not to run, they gave NYS Comptroller Carl McCall the boot in lieu of Hillary in the 2000 Senate race in NY. Still plenty of time for a "October surprise" here,

Stay tuned.

Bill Clinton pushed Meed to Quit

Post  sc4ram on Fri Oct 29, 2010 1:29 am

Wow Gonzo-

This is a rich pile of Dem doggie poo (Ive run out of dog colors to describe these guys.) If this keeps up it would eventually be a dis-service to dogs.

I should of guessed if Mr. Clinton was in town to campaign for the guy in last place he must of been acting as "God-father" and reading the riot act to Rep Meek. (Just like the previous examples i cited, I just thought of another one, when it was time for Sen Torcelli D-of NJ to exit, back in ~2002, it was Bill Clinton that delivered the news.) It was also illeged that Mr, Clinton offered then PA primary candiate Joe Sesteck some position in the executive branch if he would drop out in lieu of Arlen Specture. This article implied White House involvement in the Meek episode as well. (So much for hope and change and "changing Washington") . Now Im starting to read between the lines, to try to pull this off the Dems must be desparate, they must have poll data that says they are in danger of loosing the Senate next week.

And just think, a couple of months ago Charlie Tuna was a Repub, now we dont know what he is. I saw a clip of the last debate recently where Charlie refused to say if elected which party in the Senate he could caucus with. (What a strategy, "vote for me, no telling what I'll do") As I mentioned I have defended the guy ocasionally over the years, back when he got married, somebody opined to me that he was gay and was just getting married so he could run for higher office. Of course my naive self said no-way, nobody can be that shallow (not even a politician) . Now you could tell me just about anything about the guy and Id have to take it seriously.

Lets hope Mr. Rubio is worthy of this gift. ................

Rubio coasting to victory in U.S. Senate race

Post  sc4ram on Tue Nov 02, 2010 11:03 pm

Well Gonzo, Marco drove a stake thru Charlie Tuna's political career, looks like its not a good year to change parties or platforms, (if you have one ). Sorry Charlie, now you can spend more time on that tan. Thank you for the Property Tax cut and EB. Enjoy the rest of your life sitting in on Board of Directors meetings. .....

It was exciting though, this race had everything from guys switching parties, to Dem back room deals brokered by Bill Clinton/and or the White House, the Independent offering to caucus to the highest bidder. Another Florida classic. (I cant wait till what we dont know comes out)

Well sc4ram,it looks like it wasn't a good year to be a democrat in Florida. Looks like they got their ass kicked 6 ways to Sunday! The next couple years are not going to be pretty. Even if Meeks would have dropped out I think Rubio would have still won. What really is a kick in the pants is that Rick Scott,a should have been convicted criminal,IMHO,is now our gov. Get your orders in for KY jelly cuz we are going to get reamed.

Sorry Charlie

Post  sc4ram on Thu Nov 06, 2014 2:39 am

Sorry but I have to add my .02 on this one. Sorry Charlie, see you in 4 years (when you will probably run for something again). Lets see, you've been a Republican, Independent, and now a Democrat (does anyone else remember Bill Clinton campaigning for Meek in 2010 against Charlie? I guess politics does make strange bed-fellows). So whats next, maybe run for Bill Nelson's Senate seat next time. (Maybe Charlie could run as a Socialist or perhaps a Libertarian)

I cant imagine given his background why any Democrat would vote for him (his history is contrary to their platform) it must be blind yellow-dog voting (or something my logic doesnt comprehend.........)

To top it off, I just saw Mr Morgan (of Moron and Moron, Ignore the People) on the 11:00 news go on a profanity laced rant how it was all of the old folks fault that his pet amendment 2 didnt pass, then he blamed rich people for contributing against it as the reported cited that Mr. Morgan put ~$4 million of is own money into the cause) Im sure Charlie fits right in at that office.

See you in the funny papers Charlie!
